SALE OF WIGTON WINDFARM
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) seeks suitably qualified investors to purchase the Wigton Windfarm (WWF).
The Government of Jamaica, through the PCJ, is the sole owner of WWF, operators of a 20.7MW windfarm. The Government is now seeking investors with adequate financial capability and expertise in the development, management and operation of renewable energy and power generation facilities to purchase the WWF. Investors may be local or overseas, private or public. Expansion of wind energy generation that will facilitate the nation’s increased usage of electricity from renewable sources and modernization of the existing WWF facility are the primary objectives of this privatization.
The windfarm is located in the parish of Manchester approximately 70 km from Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. There are 23 NEG Micon turbines each rated at 900kW for a total capacity of 20.7MW at the plant and they are situated on 683 acres of leased property from bauxite companies ALCOA and ALPART. The Wigton property is situated at approximately 750m above sea level.
Further information is available in the WWF Request for Proposals (RFP) document which may be obtained from the PCJ at a cost of $US 1000.00. Proposals must be submitted in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the RFP. Bidders must provide valid/current tax compliance certification from their Government authorities.
The Government of Jamaica through its agency the PCJ does not bind itself to accept any proposal and also reserves the right to reject any application for RFP Documentation.

The RFP Documentation will be available from July 22, 2007. Proposals must be submitted to the PCJ no later than 15:00 hours Jamaica time, September 7, 2007. Bidders are invited to the opening of the proposals on September 7, 2007 at 15:30 pm at the PCJ.
