ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Dr. Raymond Wright
Dr. Raymond Wright
is recognized throughout the Caribbean as one of the
region's energy experts. In over 80 papers in various
local and international journals, he explores renewable
energy, petroleum exploration, environmental geology,
and biostratigraphy. Dr. Wright is Group Managing
Director of Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica. Born in
Southfield, St. Elizabeth, his early education started
at Clarendon College. Later, he was educated at Durham
and London Universities in England, and Stanford
University, California, USA. He was Director of
Geological Surveys and Commissioner of Mines prior to
coming to PCJ in 1979. At PCJ he spearheaded the search
for oil and gas in Jamaica.
Among the awards he has
received are the Commander of the Order of Distinction
(CD), conferred in 1989, and the Chubb Award for
Excellence in the Geological Sciences in 1993.
