Wigton Windfarm's

Wigton Windfarm Limited is embarking on a wind farm expansion installing an additional 18 MW of generating capacity from nine (9) 2 MW Vestas V80 wind turbines. The project is funded by the PetroCaribe Development Fund and commissioning is expected in 2010.

Signing
- On December
13, 2005, Wigton Windfarm Limited signed an agreement with the
Corporacion Andina de Fomento (CAF), a multilateral development bank,
for
the sale of Certified Emission Reduction (CER) to the Netherlands
government. The sale price is 5.5 Euros per ton of carbon dioxide saved.
The agreement is from April 2004 to December 2012 and the estimated
income for the period is US$ 3.1 million.
- Maria
Teresa Szauer of CAF and Wesley McLeod of Wigton, signed the statement
of modality. Dr. John Cooke, Executive Chairman of Wigton, and the President
of CAF signed the Emissions Reduction Purchase Agreement (ERPA).
- Under
the Kyoto Protocol, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) allows for
countries to trade emissions reductions to meet their targets. As a
result, Wigton Windfarm Limited is able to trade the emissions reductions
saved by operating the wind farm, thereby allowing for a secondary income
stream. Thus the project has both environmental and financial benefits.
- Wigton
was registered as CDM project on March 19, 2006. The list of registered

wins Wigton Windfarm Amateur Tennis Tournament
Duane
Pagan, gets his well deserved award from Wesley McLeod, General Manager,
Wigton Windfarm Limited. Duane also received a Solar Water Heater
from Wigton as first prize winner of the Men’s First Class division.
Wigton, subsidiary of The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica operates
a Windfarm in Manchester and supports energy conservation and efficiency.
Wigton distributed compact fluorescent lights at the tournament held
October 24th to November 4th. Looking on is Ian Murphy, General Manager,
The Liguanea Club.
- Hanna
wins Wigton Windfarm Amateur Tennis Tournament
Sasha
Hanna, receives the first place award from Wesley McLeod, General
Manager, Wigton Windfarm Limited. Sasha also received a Solar Water
Heater from Wigton. Looking on (from left) are Wigton’s Shaun
Treasure, Michelle Chin Lenn and Liguanea club’s General Manager,
Ian Murphy. Wigton, a subsidiary of The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica
has sponsored the tournament for two consecutive years. Wigton Windfarm
Limited operates the new wind farm in Wigton, Manchester and is an
avid supporter and promoter of renewable energy. Wigton distributed
compact fluorescent lights during the tournament held October 24th
to November 4th, 2005.
